description:  Penny royal is known for its insect and ant repelling properties.  Once established this plant requires little care..  Narrow aromatic soft green leaves has a strong minty aroma.  A good creeping ground cover.
harvest:  Picked leaves can be used fresh or dry.
culinary notes:  Pennyroyal was commonly used as a cooking herb by the Greeks and Romans. The ancient Greeks often flavored their wine with pennyroyal. A large number of the recipes in the Roman cookbook call for the use of pennyroyal.  Although commonly used for cooking in the Middle Ages, it gradually fell out of use as a culinary herb and is seldom used so today.  Caution in using these leaves in mint tea.  Has medicinal properties to be respected.
