latin name: helichrysum angustifolium

zone: 8-10
type: tender perennial
light: full sun
height: 12” (30cm)

description:   Attractive ornamental herb with a spicy curry fragrance.  Silver foliage is a beautiful complement to vibrant colors in the herb or perennial garden.  Needle-like leaves are curry scented.   Dwarf curry more suitable for container gardens.  Small deep yellow, button-like flowers bloom in summer.

harvest:  Sprigs are picked in summer and used fresh for flavoring or extractions of essential oils.

culinary notes:  Fresh sprigs of curry can be added to rice, vegetables, and egg dishes to give a mild curry flavour.  Best cooked briefly.   Essential oil is used to enhance fruit flavors in confections and perfumes.  Dried leaves also make a good moth repellent.
